ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY 

 
IPC seeks an experienced hands-on Controller to assist in leading its growing Accounting & Fund Administration team. A qualified candidate will perform various general accounting functions and activities for IPC and its affiliated entities, as detailed below. (Percentages are approximate estimations and may vary as needed.)
 

Responsibilities include: 

 
Financial Leadership and Compliance (55%)
 
  • Daily Operations and Training: Leading daily activities within the accounting department, supporting financial programs, and offering guidance to both current and new staff members to enhance their skills.
  • Financial Statements and Reporting: Managing the creation and preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including detailed schedules for over 40 subsidiaries, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Policy Development and Internal Controls: Collaborating with the CFO and senior leadership to manage and develop accounting policies and procedures. This involves ensuring adherence to internal controls, GAAP, and government accounting standards.
  • Audits and Tax Filings Coordination: Overseeing the coordination with outside accountants for annual financial audits and all necessary tax filings. This task includes handling the filing of IRS Forms 990, 1120, and 1065, as well as state and local sales and property taxes.
  • Expansion Support: Monitoring tax nexus issues during expansion phases, coordinating with the legal department for necessary registrations.
  • Compliance: Ensuring compliance with all loan agreements, contracts, and banking relationships, and coordinating quarterly and annual reporting with the Asset Management department.
 
Strategic Financial Reporting (25%)
 
  • Insightful Financial Reporting: Preparing monthly financial reports and budgets that offer valuable insights to company leadership, aiding in strategic decision-making.
  • Quarterly Reports for Stakeholders: Producing quarterly financial analyses for leadership and investors, providing a clear view of the company's financial health and progress.
  • Process Improvement: Actively seeking and implementing new processes, workflows, and systems to improve efficiency and allow the accounting infrastructure to scale effectively with the company's growth.

Team Leadership and Development (20%)
  • Guidance and Support: Providing continuous training, guidance, and support to the accounting team, promoting a culture of collaboration and efficiency.
  • Professional Development: Identifying training needs and delivering necessary education to ensure team members are up-to-date with industry standards and possess the skills needed for their professional growth.

Other Duties as Assigned: Other assigned duties may include, but are not limited to, engaging in other business and partnership as directed by the Chief Financial Officer.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS 


Education & Experience:
The ideal candidate will have at least a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a related field with an emphasis in accounting. A Master’s in Accounting or related field and/or CPA preferred. The qualified candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in Accounting, Banking, Finance, or a related field, experience leading accounting teams with direct reports, preferably as an accounting manager or controller with fund accounting experience.

  • Expertise with US GAAP and Compliance Requirements: Possessing a solid understanding of GAAP, is vital for ensuring financial statements' accuracy and compliance. Indicating a strong commitment to maintaining organizational integrity and adherence to financial regulations and standards.
  • Advanced Expertise in Microsoft Excel: Featuring high-level proficiency in Excel, facilitating complex financial analyses, budgeting, and reporting tasks with efficiency and accuracy.
  • Proficiency in Accounting Software: Exhibited by adept use of essential tools for financial analysis, reporting, and data management, enhancing productivity and precision. Preferred experience with Oracle NetSuite, Salesforce, and loan servicing platforms.
  • Flexibility and Adaptability: Able to adjust quickly to changing priorities and conditions, demonstrating resilience and versatility in managing diverse tasks and projects.
  • Independent Initiative and Strong Work Ethic: Demonstrated drive and project management skills with the ability to progress with minimal supervision, motivated by a strong sense of responsibility and commitment to delivering high-quality work.
  • Trustworthiness and Analytical Thinking: Known for integrity and a methodical approach to problem-solving, applying analytical skills to develop thoughtful, effective solutions.
  • Excellent Time Management and Organizational Skills: Proven ability to consistently prioritize tasks effectively, communicate progress on tasks, and manage time efficiently while maintaining high standards of work in a dynamic environment.
  • Exceptional Verbal and Written Communication Abilities: Enhancing the existing skill set with superior communication skills, is crucial for clear reporting, collaboration, and maintaining strong relationships across all levels of the organization. Demonstrated expertise in communicating effectively, tactfully, and courteously through oral and written communications.
  • Fund Accounting Experience: Experience with working with multiple subsidiaries or funds that have intercompany accounting and eliminations.
